Let us arrange a magnificent and exciting trail ride for you.... Typically we can plan a direct route (back to base trail ride) and box the horses to the start point of your trek, or alternatively, we can run circular routes for the riding centre here at Bigland Hall.. All the trail ride routes can encompass as many days riding as you require and terrain to suit your needs and abilities.

Please note - Trail rides need to be precicely planned so if you are interested please contact Mike Myers on the above number and he will be pleased to arrange the trekking experience of a lifetime for you.

Circular Trail Ride.....

Normally we will set of from the riding centre and plan a route to suit you or your parties needs. Typically we would ride into the heart of the Lake District taking in areas such as Grisedale Forrest, Coniston Valley and the Langdales.

A two/three Day Trail to Coniston.....

We begin our journey from the centre riding out Through 'Grizedale Forest', stopping mid way for a pub lunch. Over Coniston Fells taking in the stunning views to arrive in Coniston for our overnight stay at 'Lakeland House' Bed and Breakfast. The horses are accomodated overnight in a local field. The next day we ride out under the foot of Coniston Old Man to Torver and onwards over Lowick Fell again we stop over at a very nice 'Horse Friendly' pub the - Royal Oak at Spark Bridge where the food is good and the hospitality excellent. The afternoon is usually spent with a steady return to Bigland.

This ride can be extended to include a third day round Windermere to make a full weekend of it.

Four Day 'Shap' Ride

This goes to Ings near Windermere over to Shap following the Pack Horse routes. We overnight in Shap at the local hotel. The second day is round Lowther onto the Roman Road 'High Street' returning to Shap. The last day returning to Ings via 'Mardale' and from there we box the horses back to Bigland. This is a summer/spring ride due to the altitude and conditions of the ground underfoot.
